Spring has sprung and Maggie and Dave are loving the extra daylight hours. Things are getting busy for Dave at Sage Garden Greenhouses and Maggie shares what’s germinating in her indoor seed starting set-up. For Plant Science Minute, Dave breaks down phototropism - an explanation into why plants reach toward the sun, what it means and how you can support your plants if you see this happening. This week’s interview is with two local Winnipeggers - Jannica Reyes and Riel Lynch - the faces behind Winnipeg Free Plants. This local initiative collects donated plants from Manitobans and gives them away for free in an effort to improve mental health during the pandemic. Jannica and Riel share about the community of plant lovers they’ve watched come together through this project and encourage Grow Guiders to start up their own Free Plants community in your city.
